Let
me start off by wishing everyone a blessed and safe new year in
2024. I would like to bring awareness to the abuse and neglect
being done in the nursing homes and private industry, It’s
all about those dollars with no regards to the individuals. I
have learned firsthand how the business is run with becoming the
POA for my sister that is in one here Houston, Texas, and I understand
that it is a worldwide problem. The problem is the staff who work
in the facilities, it seems they hire people that are careless
about those who live there and depend on their help for everyday
care. I have experienced the attitudes from staff when asking
why something is not done and end up doing it myself if able.
The
whole game is that they take advantage of the system with depending
on the state to pay for services that are not being provided,
I had a time getting my sister’s paperwork completed for
her Medicaid for the elderly and disable and the facility ran
me in the ground to the point where they handed me my sisters
discharge notice twice if I didn’t get the paperwork done
in a timely manner, as they was not receiving the state money
for food, laundry and whatever the state pays for as I paid her
rent each month. I guess they don’t know that the state processing
time is back logged which was mentioned on the national news.
I
would like to say that if you have a family member or friend in
a nursing facility, please check in on them. It helps with bringing
some joy to those who are going through a whole lot physically
and mentally.
