Jamsource Runway Magazine was created by
Founder/Publisher Carolyn Baker, in 2001 for the
purpose of exposing the Arts. After moving to
Houston from San Antonio where she worked for
the San Antonio Register Newspaper, one of
oldest black publications in Texas, publishing for
over 20 years. Now blessed with twenty years in
the business, she is still informing the public on a
diverse level, from Gospel music to Jazz, Rap and
Zydeco, just to mention a few.
Later on, as a means of incorporating fashion
into the publication, the ‘Runway Fashion
Source’ was introduced. This platform provides
recognition to the up-and-comers in the industry,
putting focus on the designers and models in a
way that gains them more opportunity to move
forward on their quest on a national and
international level.
Carolyn Baker, in 2020, decided to add the
custom cars and bike platform with ‘Ride or Die
Custom Automobiles and Bikes’. This had
always been a passion of hers while growing up
with eight brothers who were very involved in
working on cars of all fashions. It was a joy for
her later in life to spend time admiring the
customs out there at various cars shows, and
showing the readers that unique style of art.
Plus, she enjoys driving high powered vehicles
personally.
There is so much involved in Jamsource
Runway besides its media activity, such as
supporting non-profit organizations and other
businesses, locally, nationally and internationally,
and helping others getting started with pursuing
their dreams in the media industry as she once
did many years ago.
As the 20Th Anniversary is being celebrated, Ms.
Baker feels like it was just yesterday when she
started it all, and she looks forward to many
more years of carrying on the trademark of
Jamsource Runway, doing what has been part
of her life 100%.
A few people who need recognition for supporting
JSRW. They are Cynthia Allen, President of Rose
B. Johnson Colon Cancer Foundation, Lynette
Reddix, No Sister Left Behind 501c, and Marcus
Muhd of A Tone Productions.
